Breckenridge Synthetic Shake + Standing Seam Metal Roof
Breckenridge, CO
In Breckenridge, CO, where high elevations bring heavy snow, ice, and wildfire risks, the roofing system must do more than just look good: it has to perform. For this mountain home, a DaVinci Roofscape synthetic shake roof was paired with a standing seam metal roof to deliver long-lasting protection, a Class A fire rating, and a clean architectural finish built for the environment.
The homeowner initially considered stone-coated steel, which is a solid option in many parts of Colorado. But after evaluating Breckenridge’s specific needs, temperature fluctuations, snow load, and the risk of embers from nearby wildfires, a synthetic shake and metal combo was the clear winner.

Built for Mountain Conditions
DaVinci’s synthetic shake is ideal for high-altitude homes. Made from a polymer blend, the shingles remain flexible in cold weather and resist cracking or snapping under pressure. A reinforced back adds strength, and the layered headlap design creates double coverage at every row. This is the key to preventing leaks and hail damage. The standing seam metal roof, fabricated on-site using Sheffield Metals through Architectural Panels, offers sleek durability with functional benefits. On-site roll forming protects the panels from transport damage and ensures exact fitment. Butterfly clips were used in place of fixed clips to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction, a critical detail for Colorado mountain homes.Custom Detailing & Craftsmanship
This home had a complex roof design with multiple angles, overhangs, and slope transitions. These areas often lead to leaks if not flashed properly. Custom valleys were constructed with bent cleats to direct water efficiently, eliminating the need for sealants. Ice & water shield was layered beneath every critical area, including around sidewalls and under new valley metal.
Additional project features included:
- Full ice and water shield coverage per Breckenridge code
- Yeti 18 snow blocks sourced from Rocky Mountain Snowguards
- Custom perforated metal ridge vent for proper airflow in raised ridge construction
- Heat cable replacement, starting at gutters and downspouts to prevent ice dams
- Class A fire-rated underlayment approved by DaVinci for added protection
The Result
With both durability and design in mind, this roofing system was tailored specifically for Breckenridge’s demanding environment. Every product, clip, and detail was selected for long-term performance, and quality control was performed on site to ensure the install met exacting standards.
The homeowner shared,
“Everything went smoothly with the re-roof of our property in Breckenridge. Home Grown performed as promised, on schedule, on budget, and did a great job at a fair price. Couldn’t have asked for better.”
This project reflects the level of detail, durability, and hands-on experience that sets Home Grown Roofing apart in Colorado’s mountain roofing market. Backed by a 5-year craftsmanship warranty, it’s a roof built to protect and perform for decades to come.
